OK, so I have a new to me, 1975 Comet with a I6. Im in CA so I have to keep all the BS smog equiptment and vac line nightmare, ( I finally have them right, I think) the car runs decent while driving but I cant get it to idle smooth to save my life, also when I come to a stop the check engine light will come on for a few seconds and the car seems to want to stall, It rarely dose but sure seemes like it wants to. If I leave it idleing it will slowly get worse untill it stalls. And the idle speed screw is just about all the way in now! Any help would be greatly apprecieated. thanks Aaron.

just a thought, be sure to check the timing. 6 cylinders are common to become out of time over the yrs and run rougher and they get older. good luck

    :Welcome:

I kind of doubt it's the timing, though I guess it's possible. I would double check to make sure you have no vacuum leaks. Have you checked the PCV valve? If it's old and gummed up, it can get stuck open and cause a major vacuum leak.

Also, you say you have the idle speed screw all the way in almost, try backing out the idle mixture screw at the base of the carb to richen it up.

it's very possible. been thru it several times over the yrs. but again, it could be a number of things. just get a starting point and start checking things off that you have checked. :drive:
