My fuel cell has a "ramp" angling down at the back where the two fittings are for the fuel to flow out.

Has anyone used one like this and if so, how did you mount it?

I could cut a hole in the trunk and let it sit below the trunk, but I was hoping to use the round hole in the floor where the fuel filler tube goes down for all my hoses and wires to drop down outside the car. Therefore, I would want to keep the entire cell in the trunk, and replumb and rewire everything to exit out that one big hole.

Basically, I have a couple days (weeks, if the weather continues to refuse to cooperate) to figure out how I want to do this before I drain all fuel and remove the tank. So any suggestions will just get my little brain a-spinning until I get down on it and actually do the installation.

Thats the sump on the tank...You want it facing the rear of the car.

Only way I can think of is to fab up a platform for the trunk floor. Raised around the perimeter with room for the sump to sit inside, resting on or slightly above the trunk floor.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking...set the tank higher than the floor, and let it sump down to the pump, etc.
