Hi: I just fixed my fuel gauge ...In order to calibrate the needle, do you know what's the range of voltage that the regulator send to the gauge?...I asume 0 when the tank is empty, but when it's' full ?? Are there problems if you bypass the voltage regulator? Thanks, Chalito.
I dont know the specs but you can map it yourself with a volt meter. The sending unit is just a rheostat(like a dimmer switch for your lights)and the guage is basically the light bulb.Good luck.
73 ohms empty and 8-12 ohms full. http://www.egauges.com/ATM_Tips.asp?TipPage=fuellevel.htm Here's some good reading http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/75259_instrument_electricity/index.html
thanks for your answers. The voltage regulator then limits the fule gauge voltage to 5 volts, I can now calibrate the needle.
under the dash on the far left. kinda near where your left knee would be when your sitting in the driver's seat
