can someone please tellme what kind of gas cap I bought? It is a Maverick cap, of course. It's about 4 inches in diameter at the base, has a kind of gear looking design around the emblem, and has a black center with the steer head and Maverick logo. I'm thinking it is a deluxe cap, but I've never seen one. I don't think it's ever even been on a car. The old guy I bought it from got it from a friend who worked in a Ford parts department. He also had a locking Maverick gas cap. I'm supposed to meet up with him later in the spring, supposedly he has a bunch of these old gas caps.

You're definately describing a deluxe cap. Some earlier ones didn't have "MAVERICK" in the top of the black center.

If you do get them, I would be interested if you're parting with any also.

BTW; new Mav is a bust...probably a parts car. Have it at home, if you want to come see it. If you are off Sunday, I will be home in the late afternoon, about 2:00pm. Earl
