Gas cap ?

    Has anybody seen a cap like this before, what year would it be from ? Thanks [​IMG]

    I believe that's called a delux cap. Not sure of year.

    Never seen one in person. Have seen them for sale on ebay. Not sure of the year.

    I have on one on mine, came with it when I got it. I like the gear look.

    I have a cap like this now but it doesn't have the word Maverick on it. Thats what I'm wondering about ?

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    It is considered a deluxe gas cap. I know the 1970 Maverick Grabber had it, as well as the LDO cars up through at least 1974. I am sure other Mavericks got the cap as well. Not sure what the reason is as far as why some said "Maverick" and others did not.

    the ones that actually say "Maverick" like the one pictured are for the later cars (76-77) that had the unleaded fuel filler neck, and it has the double twist lock design on the back as well....where the earlier 71-75 cars were just simple twist on design with only two ears, where as these had 4. hope this helps

    From what I have noticed, the Maverick named caps came on cars that had the F O R D letters in the trunk lid instead of the Maverick script of the earlier cars.
