Gas strut instead of hood prop rod?

    am also thinking about replacing the hinges with maybe some from a 65 fairlane, they are close but the mounting holes are differnet.....duh, this is a ford after all. If I wanted an easy life I would drive a chevy!

    After about 6 months I'm still happy with that setup, hasn't got in the way yet, and it's real convenient.

    Is it easy to shut the hood? Does the hood want to flex when you shut it?

    How bout a few close ups of the mounting areas? I have a few strut rods from a late model taurus that I think will work great, almost the exact same setup. In the mean time I will check into the 65 fairlane hinges.

    I also have thought of this, but never got around to doing it. But i have to fix the dent the prop rod made in the hood from the plastic thing that keeps it from going too far into the hood falling off. so i may do it. we have an old camper shell in the back yard that a tree fell on and it has two of those things on the door. Hmmm.
