What size are the gauges on a stock 74' Mav?And how hard is it to remove the stock gauges and replace them with new Autometer gauges?
Id-jit is Frank talk for Idiot AKA: Idiot Lights (I can just hear him saying that, thats the way he is)
usually by the time the stock lights come on....the problem is MAJOR....The reason we call them idiot lights is because when they come on it's basically sayin' "HEY IDIOT!! SOMETHING'S WRONG!! " Guages are much better! You can see how things are doing BEFORE there's a problem! Much, much better situation! Welcome aboard by the way! Take care! Preston
Got ya,i always heard of am as oh **** lights because by the time their on you already screaming ****!!!!!!.lol But are the stock gauges 2 5/8 or 2 1/16?
there are ...no gauges...just a printed circuit and bulbs my custom gauges were made by ...Dakota Digital ......
Does Dakota Digital sell theses custom guages to anyone or did you pay to have them built "one off"? They are nice
thanks :Handshake...they were "one off". i sent them the size and what i wanted to have in them.(scared a sevenhundred dollar bill to death). ......
Everyone keeps posting about the gauges that the Maverick doesn't have. I took the original post to mean "how big are the gauges it DOES have"... I figured he wanted to know what the diameter was of the 2 stock "gauge pods". The ones that don't have any gauges in them. I am interested to know too. I don't have the Mavs accessable easily, but would like to know if aftermarket speedo and tach would fit, and what size. Also like pics of this sort of things too. Sooooooo.... If the original member posting didn't mean it that way, I apologize. If they did want this info, then 'bump'! I would like to see similar installs myself. Thanks Dave
Well i didnt know that they had no gauges so now i am gonna have to figure out a way to mount them in the dash............................
Okay... I guess you were looking for accessory gauges. Nope... Mavs were light on gauges. They have a mechanical speedo and a fuel gauge. That is it. No other options ever. I always wanted to get a non-a/c dash, then weld and smooth the ashtray in, that way it was a continous flat surface. Then take 4 or 5 2 5/8" gauges and mount them in a row. They would have to be in 'turn tubes' to look good IMO. Water temp/oil/volt/vacuum is the way I would go minimum. Would need a fuel gauge too if you put a tach in the dash opposite the speedo.
Well what i really ment was i want to replace the speedo with a new one and the fuel gauge with a Tach and mount my other gauges under ther dash.
