I'm looking to get new gauges. Wanted to get some recommendations with some links maybe. I don't want anything high end but I good quality. Something in the autometer price range would be good. I am going to remove the stock speedometer and fuel level gauge too. Now, electric or mechanical?

cars are easier but they don't tell you whats wrong with them. if you're a clever doc you'll get most of your diagnosis by just chatting with the patient. every little thing means something.

I use the Autometer Phantom gauges....including tach. They work perfectly and look great.

i have several different types of autometer in my car. sport comp (black face), ultralite (silver face), and phantom (white face). i find the phantom is the easyest to read at a glance.
eletric gages are nice because they are easy to install. you dont have to deal with large tubing going from the dash through the firewall. mechanical is nice because they use full sweep faces. they do make full sweep eletric but they cost way more.
    i would recomend these gages,
eletric: tach, fuel level, volt meter, fuel pressure.
mechanical: speedo, oil pressure, water temp. nitrous pressure, and boost.

Funny my doctor just sticks his finger well you figure out the rest.

Mechanical is more accurate imo, it sorta depends on the look you want in your guages I have the Phantom as well, bright and easy to see, Cobalts are cool with the blue color, carbon fibers are great also, I know I am not much help I guess the bottom line is get what you like cause they all perform the same just stay away from thier cheaper Autogage stuff

I agree w/ most of the recommendations in prior posts. I have Autometer Phantom Tach 3 3/4" and Autogauge triple, 2 5/8" water, oil pres. and voltmeter - all white face. So far, the gauges have worked perfectly for the 8 or 9 months I've had them.
I agree w/ Bryants recommendations on what types to buy.
If I did it again I wud just make them all Autometer.

so any of the electric fuel levels will work for me right?

I have a few ideas about the dash, gonna see who here can sell me an old dash to work with. I'll post pics when I get to working on it.

this fuel gauge is programmable, is it worth the $110 price? I'm thinking in case I want to get a different fuel tank later. The one that would have the correct ohms is $45

you can by two fuel level gages for less than the one programable gage. you can also sell the first gage when you switch to the second gage to recoup some cost.
