If you end up drilling a hole be sure to grommet them. For sure the oil line, I think Paul suggested using copper which is the way to fly,but I would still use grommets to prevent vibration rub on wires and oil line.
We are drilling holes in our firewall that way you can hide wires nicely in small looms and exit them into the engine bay where you want. Try to keep it simple and most of all clean. Good luck.

First you'll need to reach under the dash and disconnect the speedo cable, theres 2 clips on either side that you press in and pull back and it should come right off.

After that theres 2 screws in each cluster inlet youll need to remove, after that you should be able to tilt the top out and lift up to remove the cluster(if you have a 3-speed dropping it down to first will help), dont forget to remove the harness that connects to the back, its located between the clusters.

Its sort of tricky getting it out, so beware of scraping paint and such.

I uploaded a poorly drawn pic so youll get an idea of how its held in...make sure when you put it back the clips on the bottom have some form of rubber, otherwise youre going to hear a lot of vibration...I learned that the hard way.

As for the upper dash do you mean the Dash Pad? If so look here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=36288 , as far as the actual upper dash its a bit harder to do, especially if you dont want to remove the windshield...I have an off site link that tells you, PM me if you want the link.
