Gen to Alt Conversion help needed

I am attempting to convert my '60 Comet from generator to alternator. I purchased an alternator and ordered the bracket, regulator, and alternator mounting bolt from Falconparts.com. Did anyone else have a problem with this conversion? The belt needs to be stretched to fit, the fan hits the front of the alternator, and the adjusting bracket is not in proper alignment with the alternator. What the hell am I doing wrong? I read previous posts regarding this conversion and it was supposed to be easy. Please help.

This forum is mostly for 70-77 Comets, although someone here may be able to answer your question.

    Sorry....

....Cooter, I think you are not getting a response b/c this site is mostly visited by '69-'77 Maverick and Comet enthusiast. By '65 most all cars ran alternators. Not many of us here have ever had to deal with that conversion.
I know that I haven't. But, I have heard of it, and do know what you are talking about. Try doing a google search, or perhaps search some vintage Mustang sites. The first production Mustangs in '64 had generators.

Good luck and welcome to the site. Come back with other questions in general, this is a helpful bunch when we have the knowledge.
