My uncle has a '72 Mav that I'm buying for 500. 1 spot of surface rust by the rt front fender. Has been parked for over 15 yrs!! Came with a 2 bbl 302 w/ 3 spd manual and 3-1 axle ratio. Currently has 4 spd and 9 inch that doesn't come with car. Also get spare 74 Mav that I'm taking the interior and rear end out of. I am painting it bright yellow with the newer style BOSS striping. Might try to replicate a Grabber if I can find the right parts for cheap. Wondering if you guys recommend sand blasting everything underneath, or is there any chemicals to spray on to stop any more rusting? If anyone needs parts for that 74, let me know. Excited to get started, and glad to know there is Maverick knowledge here!
Welcome to the board. I prefer sandblasting on removing rust, underneath is not flat panels so you dont have to worry too much about heat buildup and warpage of the panels. Where in IA are you at? Near Quincy IL here. Dan
