Well I have had my 71 maverick for 15 months :yup: and have done a lot to it to make it a reliable car to drive , by just doing the normal maint. type stuff like new tires, valve cover gasket leak fixed, exhaust manifold machined and the exhaust leak fixed, new plugs/tune up/oil change and getting all the normal things working or adjusted.... then I started gathering parts to do a V-8 swap, and have gathered all the parts to change the car over to a V-8, and got a 302 short block and another C-4 and have been looking for the parts to change it from a 4 lug over to a 5 lug and disc brakes... well as the title of the thread says I'm going to get my first parts car ! and it has the five lug stuff I was looking for , I don't know what year it is yet but its a big bumper car with a 250 6cyl auto, and I will be going to get it tomorrow... so wish me luck with my first parts car score and I know how bad you all will want to see pics so I will see what I can do and what I can find out about the car tomorrow... :thumbs2:

If you get the car, strip it to the bare bones and don't waste a thing. Any extra parts that you don't need you can always sell 'em.

yep thats the plan , I know that some of the parts I dont use some one will want or trade for some thing I need or sell, ect. and I'm getting the car for less than the $500. the junk yard wanted for the 5 lug rear end and disc brake stuff off a 77 comet I found in the junk yard.... so I feel I'm already ahead...

Not all 5 lug cars had disc brakes.

I didn't look to see if it was a disc car or not. I hope it is ,but it had enough "other" parts I wanted to make getting it worth while, the disc brakes would be a bonus ! thanks for all the support, I will keep things updated when I get it and look it over closer.

Thanks, I will try and post pics. tonight when I get back, the car is about 60 miles from me , and has been sitting in a yard for a while ,so I'm not sure how long it will take to pull it out and winch it up on the trailer... ? but I'm sure it will be worth it for the price, even if just for the extra rear end and trans. or what ever is good once I go over it. I will update when I get home tonight if not to late as I have to work mon.&tues. and I work 12hr days so when I work I don't get much else done, but I will try and keep every one informed on how its going... till then glad to have you all along on my first parts car!

well I made it today to pick up the parts car. It is a 77 with a 250 6cyl,auto,a/c, p/s, and manual disc brakes, it looks like it had a halo top and has wide trim on top of the doors and at the quarter windows, wheel well moldings , and magnum 500 type wheels, I took a few pics. and hope I can get them to load, I think it is a good parts car for what I paid and the parts that I wanted, but to me the car its self seems quite rough. the owner said he hit a deer with it , bungie corded the hood closed then it broke going down the road one day and the hood hit the roof so he chained it shut... sounds like it was quite abused ,but I will start to dissassemble it in a week or so after I get a spot in a garage to work on it. we will see what all is good on it then and I'm sure there will be parts off it I won't be using on mine that I will sell if some one needs them, just don't know whats good right now... so lets see if I can get the pics. on here for every one...to see what I got as my first maverick parts car!

Thanks , I was a little suprized to see the fourth wheel in the trunk! the only thing dissapointing was the sport mirror on the driver door was broke , but the wheels made up for it, now when I get mine changed over with all the 5 lug stuff I will have some thing to put on it until I can get the weld wheels I want, that and they are getting harder to find! well worth the hundred bucks I paid for it,and a little time to go dig it out of the yard and winch it on the trailer, I would go get one when ever I could if I could get that kind of deal all the time.

Is that buckets or the rare "flight " bench? Looks like a great score!
