Hey, I just found a yard 25 miles away that still has 60's and 70's fords, the owner wasn't sure what exactly, but he said they were all on the far back, and there is quite a lot left, and he doesn't have the heart to get rid of them! (bless his soul!) So, I am going thursday on my day, armed with my digital camera, to see what's there. If I can find anything for anybody I will. My camera holds over 1200 pics on my 1gig memory card. So, I'll take as many pics as I can. The guy says, he gets a few people once in awhile looking for ford stuff every few years, but not often enough. So hopefully I stumbled onto something worthwhile.
Cool ... I lived in Chester NY most of my life until I moved down south. Mom & Dad are still in Chester ... I may be up there in June to visit and go to Ford Carlisle ....
I'll definitely let you know if I find something you can use. I want to go to Carlise, waiting for time off approval from work.
Where is the yard? I may be up that way soon and am looking for some non-Maverick parts, early Econoline. Fred
Ok, I'm making a list and will be checking it twice! Gonna find me some parts Not chewed up by Mice?? Sorry, I know christmas is past. But, I love Dr Seuss!
Will look, I probabally won't find them there, maybe the place in Rosendale though, his oldest stuff goes back to the 30's
Boy That was fun!! Ok, the weather was crappy, drizzle and rain, later it cleared, I spent from 11am to 3:30pm roam the yard and snapping pictures! Turns out I went to elementary school with the guy who runs it. So I got an "in" with him. I found no Mavericks or Comets from 1970 to 1979 I did find a 1962 Mercury Comet, was rough outside, but the dash was very nice, and the keys were still in it!! I did find mustangs, cougars, javelins, amx's pinto's old VW bugs. I documented some 300+ pictures, of many different cars and parts. I found some early Thunderbirds, Corvairs. By far the coolest one I found was a 4 door 1941 Oldsmoblie, that was totally a gangster car. I will post pics of whatever anyone wants to see. This was a lot of fun for me, I think I will be doing this again, when I go to the one in Rosendale. I'm gonna start looking for other yards in the area. Maybe there is a way to search the net for yards with older cars? Any suggestions how to search? The best find for me was red bucket seats from a 1966 Mustang, with all the hardware, with no rips, cracks or tears. I got them for $50 for the pair! I will use them in my car until I can get the bench seat repaired.
