I like it... what I really enjoy is seeing someone marching to the beat of a different drummer. Takes balls to start chopping a perfectly good part to get what you want but it's the only way to be happy with what you have.

Keep pluggin it will get some looks no doubt and be ready for the "where did ya get that hood" questions.

PS better get the No body mods or cutting whatsoever !!!! out of your sig :)

    Looks good.
I think givin the option though I would have liked the top edge a little less sqare. Rounded to match the line behind the scoop. Just a personal preference.
Looks like really good work though. Cant wait to see it painted.

Hey Frank(71gold) to answer your question ,we cut out the two small braces that go from the sides at the back of the hood and go to the center of the hood at the back near the cowl .You can now get a 16 inch air cleaner in there and not touch anything and the hood is still really tight and strong. The rest of the bracing is still there and it looks factory. Here is a few pics of it on the car when we were test fitting for NOS plates and a 3 inch high air cleaner, everything fits mint.

Are you talking about the 2 that are cut off my hood also? The hood is still very stiff without them and not really noticeable that they are missing.

Yes Darren ,i did just what you have done ,a little bit of grinding and filler and it looks factory,i dont want to post pics of the underside untill its mint ,but i think when its painted Grabber Blue and the factory silver Grabber hood stripes are painted on it will look pretty good inside and out.

Hmm.... I thought you would follow the flow of the grabber hood scoops and continue up from there, I think that it would have given it alot cleaner look and made it look like the factory would have made it...(since you keep saying that it looks factory..er...yeah....:biglaugh:)

Re: the two braces that were cut out...

I kind of get the feeling that those are there to keep the big expanse of sheet metal from flexing at high speed more than anything. The base of the windshield is a pretty high pressure area (why cowl scoops work better than a lot of the ones that face forward ... :thumbs2:).

By adding a hood scoop or cowl like you guys did, it would accomplish the same thing.
