I have always thought that in order for a maverick to be considered a "Grabber", it had to have the grabber hood and a 302 engine. But i have heard many people refer to their 1970 or 1969 1/2 maverick as being a "Grabber", when the 302's were not even introduced until 1971. Are they referring to Grabber clones or is there something that I am missing? I have a 1970 Maverick with a 200 6cyl. Please, could someone define "Grabber" for me? Thanks, Stuart
Fin out more at the 1970 Ford Maverick Grabber Registry: http://www.maverickcorral.homestead.com/grabberregistry.html
always check the third and fourth digit of the VIN, 'Grabbers' will have a -93- and normal 2door's will have a -91-
I don't believe this was true until later (maybe '71?). Anyone? Anyone? Bueler? Bueler? found it: The 1970 Grabber can be identified by the rear spoiler, blacked out paint treatment, Grabber stripes and dual sport mirrors. From 1971 – 1975, Grabbers could be identified with 62D trim designation and 93 as the third and forth digit of the VIN. The 1971 – 1972 Grabbers were the only ones that had the Grabber hood. source: http://www.maverick.to/ford_maverick_grabber.php
Like posted already, Grabber was just a name with fancy stripes. Spoiler was used until 72, and hood was 71-72 only. The sportlamp grille was used for a time as well. By 73, the package was nothing more than cheezy stripes. A Grabber could be a totally stripped 170 I6 Maverick.

Hey, Rick! Make sure that one doesn't say "Removal of this tag is a violation of federal law." on the back. By the way, are you still in Singapore, or Ten Buck Two or ???? If not, welcome home. If so, hurry home! Seth
