welp guys, restoration is in the last legs. Finished up the body work and decided to let someone else spray her. Took her on the rollback today to get the double black sprayed on with a wetsand and buff. Hopefully have her back in a week or 2 he said. Can't wait... then ill upload the finish pics of the engine bay, interior, and outside. Should win quite a few shows around here since theres no mavericks showing in this area... And what is sad to me, not many people will know some of the changes that make it so clean. Antenna delete, battery relocate, carpeted the trunk, relocated main wiring harness under fender, relocated starter solenoid etc to hidden location.. HEI distributor cleaned up things nicely, etc etc you'll see...
Thats great. Very exciting to see some paint on a project. Not so sure about that last legs comment. I'm sure you'll find lots more work to do.
I went to see the progress made yesterday... I have never seen a better "black" paint job in my life. black as you know takes no prisoners, and shows every little flaw, I couldnt for the life of me find one.... and shes getting wetsand and buff to show car finish within the week soon as the front end alignment is finished... Ill have pics up asap.
Fantastic, Can't wait to see the images. Or better yet when she's done drive her over here to Richmond and you can help finish my project. She'll need a road trip to test her out right?
Sounds sweet. I also deleted my antenna and all the side marker lights. I am also going to black chrome the rest of the trim and and bumpers. Get some pics up
Congratulations! Having a black car myself, I understand your statement on how critical a good painter is in the process. Any little flaw shows up. When clean, which is hard to keep, black is the greatest color of them all. I, too, just got one of my cars back from the painter and am very pleased with the job done. Mine is Dark Aqua Metallic, in my opinion, the prettiest stock color for '69. It is the same as Gulfstream Aqua in Shelbys. The fun for you begins soon with the reassembly. If you had taken the car completely apart, it is a slow process to reassemble. It takes a lot longer to put them back together than to take them apart. It is an exciting time to finally see an end in sight. Once again, congrats!! Jim
Well, since it's rushed... lol, I'll show some pics, but shes not finished... this is before the wetsand and buff. and It was packed in a tight garage, so the angles and lighting sucks.
