I have a 72 Grabber. I have chance to get a 77 Granada wanting to do front brake swap. I kow there are lots of posts regarding this swap, I found a good article but now I can find it, showed everything I needed. Any and all help/advice is appreciated.

I also have a 72 Sprint I-6 car. The same Granada has a 302 in it and hopefully a C4. Will the Granada V8 parts work for swap or do you need Maverick V8 swap parts? Again, any help/advice is appreciated.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Check the tech article section, i'm pretty sure theres a disk swap article in there. Along with a V8 swap article.

As far as I know the frame mounts wont work. Not sure on the tranny crossmember. You should be able to pick them up both cheap from members on here.

:thumbs2: And bless it's soul for the wonderful sacrifice it's making to the automotive gods.:bowdown::bowdown: Just as the Explorer's were destined for something other than Soccer mom status, so was it for the Granada, Monarch and Lincoln Versailles.:thumbs2:

Make sure you check it for a 9 inch rearend before sending it to the scrap yard. 9 inch rears were optional in these cars, both in drum brake and disc brake forms.

Yes, Granada has a better base to start with, better standard features and more factory options. If you know you doing you can make a Granada hug the road like a Shelby. :)

    Most Granada’s have…

    351 or 302 V8
    C4 or 3sp OD
    9 inch rears
    HD springs
    Disc brakes,
    10 inch drums
    5 lug wheels
    Power brakes
    Power steering
    A/C
109 inch wheel base for 2 Dr and 4 Dr
But………it looks like and old man car…..

Most Granada's did not have 9 inch rears. Nor have 351's. Most had 6 bangers or 302's. And were prone to rusting.

everything from the spindle, out. Rebuild or replace what is damaged, you might need a fitting adapter for the rubber to brake line if you are using your 72 hard lines. (I replaced the lower section of the RH and the entire LH front hard lines to orient them the way I wanted to. The pedal and master cyl is different, the prop valve may work as long as it isn't equipped with a metering valve. I ran discs/drum with the drum proportioning valve but it's really more of a distribution block than anything. use a maverick manual disc brake master cylinder(keep your old pedal rod from the 72) and 75 and up maverick rubber brake lines.

I ended up taking the stock prop valve out and installing a T fitting for the front and an adjustable prop valve for the rear. works great. Good luck!

I found the info for the swap online at..... Maverick/Comet archives. It use to be on the Maverick message board when I first joind 8 years ago. I stopped the project 3 years ago and haven't visited this sight until yesterday. And I was having the same problems finding the swap info again. A big THANK YOU to Charley Ping for keeping his swap info out there. Good luck.
