Hi folks - my son had been looking for his first car, he wanted an early Mustang - but there are no good drivers left within our budget. Then we looked at Fox body Mustangs and found that the cheaper cars are all pretty beat up... I had suggested Mavericks/Comets to him and he scoffed at me - then he started looking at some pictures and came to appreciate the lines and potential of these cars. We were fortunate to come across a 1974 Maverick that a fellow had started to do a V8 conversion. His priorities changed with a wedding, home purchase and new career and his Maverick project had to go - we lucked out! The body and interior are complete and in decent shape - came with a 8.8 out of an Explorer (with disc brakes), CalTracs with mono leafs, a rebuilt C4 and a unassembled motor (block machined and all parts). Car was advertised that the only pieces missing were drivesahft and exhaust and that is not far off.... Block will be going to the machine shop this month to be checked, we will upgrade the rods (likely Eagle H beam), have it balanced and are looking at going with Edelbrock's E-Street heads. Nice little street/strip combo. One of the mods that Gareth wants to do is the small bumper conversion - likely fibreglass - we would appreciate if anyone that has done this could share thier experience so we do this once and right... Seems to be a lot of knowledge and info at this forum and that will help us considerably as we go forward - it is our hope that we can contribute back to the community as we get this car back together! Rain - we have had none until the last 2 days - last time the grass was cut was July! Yet we have areas in the province that are still flooding.... Ptpdub - which resort? We live just out of town on the Whitemouth river. People from all over - but still a small world!
