To all fellow members in the path of Gustav, I hope you and your family will all be safe and secure. I'll be praying for all of you... Ken
I was a little worried at first but if it keeps taking the path it's on now I think we'll be okay. We may get some flooding out of it as we are on the bad side but I don't think it will be anything like Katrina. Doesn't look good for New Orleans though. You just never know what those storms are gonna do. They can stop and turn and do all kinds of stuff out there. Well, if it does continue it's present path, I hope all you guys west of us to be safe. Just don't stay close to the water wherever you are.
I'm going surfing!!! We are on the "good side" so we should have offshore winds and big waves, making for potentially GREAT surf... Assuming it keeps it's current track, but as stated, you never know where they are going to go until they hit.
I've got to unload in Arlington, TX on Tuesday, so I'm going to leave this afternoon to get ahead of it. May catch some of coming back Tuesday.
well good luck guys everything ive been hearing on the news makes it sound like theyre hyping it up to be another full blown katrina. stay safe! and hopefully dry
My friend just came back up from Louisiana. She just moved down there a month ago, because her husband got a good paying job. Now she's back up here due to evacuation. I hope everything turns out OK. What she was telling me, is if it goes up the Mississippi like she was told it is going to, it will be worse than Katrina. Who knows, I hope everyone is safe however
I feel for all of you who have to deal with storms like that.I guess 7 feet of snow in one shot aint so bad afterall, actually it plain flat out pales in comparison to the flooding/devastation.I will be praying for the safety of all of you,god be with you all. Pete.
I've about changed my mind about leaving today. Thinking I'll wait until tomorrow morning and reacess how things look then...
oh yeah....im gonna get CRUSHED... Baton rouge...(Bullseye BABY) luckily my car is in a safe place...so all i have to worry about is the 4 rotten pine trees waiting to fall on my house
According to Fox News - it just turned a little more right, towards New Orleans - but one good thing is it is moving twice as fast as most hurricanes, 17 mph. This is not allowing it to grow in strength and it should hit cooler water closer to shore. I will be thinking of you all - stay safe! ,
Looks like it was a little rough - but nowhere near a Katrina or Rita. Bet this made Michael Moore mad ............... Hope all are doing well ...........
Our surf was crappy. Looked good, and big, but it had no power and too much off-shore wind. Dad had a good time jetskiing in it (too old to paddle out in that stuff), so from now on, we are going to practice towing in to the waves. He will drive the jetski, I will tow in and surf the waves. I spent 2 hours paddling around and caught nothing. If I could have overcome the wind, the ride would have been pretty nice, but too much spray and wind in the face. Looks like this one fizzled out and there has been minimal damage to populated areas. We got lucky on this one...
