does anyone know any good ways to get rid of the white haziness around the edges of the windsheild or other windows
Someone told me once that they got their windows to almost look like new by doing a lot of polishing by hand with Brasso. This was on a 64 Fairlane. I have a can of the Brasso but I never tried it. yet.
There is a bunch or urban myths on the net. None of which worked for me. Come to the dream cruise, park on a bad street and it will be broken then you will have an insuance claim. Just joking
looks like i have a case of haziness for a while cause i can't spare the money on that right now, what do you do though you know
Don, Brasso is an excellent polish for clear plastic lenses like gauge faces, I would imagine it would be great to get every last thing off of glass surfaces too. Like the others have said, haziness in a windshield is the plastic layer going bad between the two layers of glass, and replacement is the only cure I know of.
White haze should only happen on the windshield. It is the only piece of glass that is really two pieces with the plastic layer bonding them together. Makes it very tough to penentrate even when broken. Good idea in case something hits the windshield at highway speed. The remaining windows in a car are one layer of safety glass. They break into very small chunks when shattered, and the idea there is that you won't get cut as badly as if they were regular glass.
I had heard that it is easier to do a headliner in Fords if the windshield and back window are removed. If you need a new windshield, you might want to slow down a step here, unless your upholsterer knows some other tricks.
