Has anybody bought regular set of headers then got them ceramic coated. If so what was the cost. Thanks just looking to save a $ or 2 if possible...........

Most likely you'll be better off if you buy them already coated from the factory.

Im not 100% positive on this, but thats what ive been told

Mike, a few years back I got a price to coat my headers; $200. I am not sure who was gonna do it. I went to R&R Chassis (they do alot of Super Stock stuff), right off Dixie close to downtown....the guy to talk to is Rick. Call and get him to give you a price.

that is an option and header wrap is second to none (IMO) on reducing under hood temps...........but (always a but) they also cause the headers to rust quicker, granted it might take 1 year....or 5

Just something to think about :yup:

I hear it will reduce the life of the headers...they will rust faster. The inuslation will get wet from water splashing from the tires and fall apart. I would just get them coated for about $200 and call it done

ok, ive had and done several wrapped headers. THis is from my personal experience so...take it how u want it. I had a wrapped set of cheap heddman hedders on my starsky and hutch mav for well over a year with CONSTANT abuse. They really do what they claim, extremly lower underhood temps, and retain the heat...well! i could make multiple passes with mine and be able to pull the plugs out shortly thereafter without risk of 3rd degree burns.lol and on stock shock towers and we all know how fun they are to change!!!!! but....... they stunk like all get out and smoked like crazy when it was first wrapped, and if u got any oil on'em forget it! they smoked like runnin "seafoam" through ur motor!! well the car got toasted in hurricane Rita, not Katrina, yeah, believe it or not other parts of the coast were destroyed from hurricanes other than new orleans. anyway guess we dont even need to go there with that one, anywho The headers were still it the car and still wrapped, some had torn from draggin the ground a few times. But when i pulled the wrap off, they were still good underneath! and that is strange because they were trapped in 6 foot of pure saltwater/ my house was a 1/4 mile away from a huge ship channel!! im going to unwrap and re-wrap them to use on my new car. well maybe, they went through Ike now too!! but we'll see!! New or old, i will continue to use header wrap:Handshake

Dont waste your time with header coatings. The Hooker coating looks good until you start using the car. It deteriorates quick. I seen a set of Jet Hot coated headers that did the same thing. The owner had nothing good to say about the coating.

Jet-Hot coated my headers for $275. These were rusty, previously wrapped, 15-year old headers. Had em done about seven years ago and they still look good. For me they held up, your results may vary. Jet-Hot gives a 3 year warranty on coating used headers and lifetime warranty on new headers you purchase from them.

Had a set of jet hot, As a matter of fact i still have them on the car. But they are wrapped now because the jet hot bubbled and flaked off. I wont buy a set of coated anymore, Mine will be wrapped from now on. As stated earlier they do stink for a while, And if the car sets for any time they will stink for the first few miles. But for the best heat retention wrapped is the only way to go.

Wrapping is what caused my headers to rust on the inside, they can't dissapate the heat and it weakens the steel. Coated headers are protected inside and out.
