My son is planning on taking out the 6cyl 250 out of his 1976 Maverick and wants to put in a 302 V8. Where can we find headers for this size engine and year Maverick? What is a fair price to pay?
I just bought a set of Headman headders $169.99 and everybody that has installed them tells me they fit perfect. I havent installed them yet so i can't tell you for sure. Just look up headman headers for a Maverick,i think the part number is 3300.Derek
Hooker 6901 is also a good header for these cars. Places like Summit and Jegs will probably be the cheapest places to get them.
Part No. ADVACE AUTO PARTS 6901HKR Hooker HDR, FORD COMP Competition; Floor Shift; Requires Power Steering Bracket {10961}; Will Not Fit C6 Transmission; Will Not Fit Dart/Windsor HeadWarranty: 1 Year Limited Warranty Ships in 5 days $169.99
Derek, have you put your heddmans in yet? do a search and youll find a post with pics of my headman clearance probs. the tube from cyl 6 is too far forward. even with the drop bracket, i had to mod the bracket and BFH the header to clear. course manual steering would be fine. also my kick down hits the header and i have factory floor shift, if you have column plan on making a shift rod or moving the shifter.
i've got the hooker 6901's in mine. no p/s. have no problems at all. took the passenger side out last week, no problem. only thing i have to do for the drivers side is pull the motor mount bolt and jack the drivers side of the engine up a few inches. i got the coated ones. i'm happy with them. got them from summit.
No i haven't put them on yet, probably in a couple of weeks when i get the heads back from the machine shop.I am using a t5 trans with a cable clutch and the car does have man steering.i"ll let you know how it goes.Derek.
hooker 6901 would be the way to go.everyone i've talked with seemed to be happy with the fit, including me.i also have them on my mav.summit racing has them for $129.
