Just a little bit of background on the car. I have a 73 maverick orginal I6. We are putting a fuel injected 5.0 in it. we are in the very very last steps of the whole deal and have ran into a snag. I've heard that with the shifter linkage you have to swithch to a floor shifter with longtube headers. So we thought maybe shorties or block huggers. We havent made any purchases yet incase it doesnt' work. Do you still have to switch to the floor shifter with shorties or can you keep the column shift? also any suggestions on headers would be great.

we've been looking into those and might have found a set. We just werent sure if we would still have to switch to a floor shifter.

There are members here that have made minor mods to their column shift linkage to work with headers. As for shorties... I think there is only one set ever made that actually fit our cars, Dougs, and I have no idea if they fit with column shift. You'd have to do a search to find out these things, unless someone directly involved with the threads is handy right now.
