Hello. I' glad i happened upon this sight. My dad just gave me his 71 Maverick, and to be honest, i'm not all that familiar with working on cars outside of the norm, (oil change, breaks ect.) It was running about a year ago, been sitting and doesn't now; go figure. So, hoping i can get some help.
Welcome aboard! You need to look in the carb and make sure it's squirting gas when you pump the accelerator. If it's getting gas, you need to see if it's getting fire when you turn the engine over. It may have dirty or corroded points. They can sometimes be cleaned but may need replacing. If you can get gas and spark, it should start up providing the engine is good and there are no bad timing problems. Good luck with it. Let us know how you come out.
