Hello everyone! It looks like I've found a good place for info! I own two Mercury Cougars right now, and have admired the Grabbers and Comets for years. I've finally found a nice Comet GT I'm seriously thinking about buying. Here it is...

    http://www.autobarnclassiccars.com/vehicles/details.aspx?Item=366

I went and looked at it and it is absolutely pristine. It appears to have had an awesome restoration. Paint is perfect, interior is almost perfect and the underneath is beautiful. The only major flaws I saw were just a pinhead of rust on the lower quarters, the dash pad is badly cracked, and the hood decal is scratched. Are the dashpad and decals available?

Also, does anyone possibly know this car? I saw the 71 Maverick Sprint that another thread is talking about, and its also gorgeous. But I'd never had known it was a clone. Is there any chance this GT is a clone? How could I tell?

Anyway, I look forward to hanging out here. Thanks for any help!

Welcome aboard. :Handshake Seth Roberts is the member you need to get up with. He is probably the most knowledgeable Comet GT expert. He will probably find you pretty soon. If not, search him out.

I very well could be a real GT. A Marti report (google it) will tell you for sure.

The inside of the doors should be black, not body color.
