My maverick is leaking water inside i dont know if its the cowl or the rubber around the windshield ....the rubber is cracked i put glue around one part and it slowed it down ...How do u check to see if the cowl is leaking do i have to pull the windshield fenders and the cowl cover to check Please help
To check the cowls, simply pour water down the cowl vents (and NOT on the windshield). If water enters your car, then the cowls are the #1 suspect.
Well snot thats makes alot of sence ...Guess i had a brain fart ...lol if it is the cowl what size of bit do i use to drill the welds out of the cowl pannel thanks for the info
Not sure of the size... get yourself a couple of spot weld drill bits. It is quite an undertaking, so make sure that is indeed the source of the leak. Fenders, windshield and more have to come out to do welding repairs. There are a few alternative ways of working on it, search for "cowl repair" and "cowl leak".
I would suggest first to look into the vents at the base of the windsheild and see if the cowl is full of leaves/pinestraw. I had one once that the straw was over the hole and water was wicking into the fresh air vent. I removed the heater box, reached in and removed 3 plastic bags of straw, had no more leak... sometimes the drain holes get stopped up and cause the water to back up over the vent and into the ca...
