New to the forum today. I never knew such places existed until I did a search. Nevertheless, it's great to have a place to BS among friends with similar interest. I picked up a 73 Maverick for my Daughter just this week. Planning on surprising her when she get's home from college. She loves Mavericks, but I could never find anything decent or what I would consider reliable enough for her to drive.... UNTIL NOW... This car brings back some memories of my high school days.....LMAO It has 18,000 yes 18,000 original miles...Verified by a certified ford dealer in town... Barely got broken in by a Granny who passed away a while back. I want to share a few pics of it with the members here... I do need to repair a few minor things like a slight leak in the master cylinder. But that's expected in a old gem like this.... I am going to ruffle my feathers as well and show a pic of my baby too... A 1958 Buick that I rebuilt myself from top to bottom. I am proud of it and like to show it off.... Lennon
Welcome to the board! And very nice Maverick also! Awesome Buick... my dad has a 64' convertible in the works.
Hey I like your maverick! We usually dont like GM products on here, but what the heck, i think we can let it slide just one time! J/K! I think i am appointing myself to the position of official welcomer!
luckyirishpride.......... ROTFLMAO Totally understood.......Figured that I just might get bashed a bit for the BURP....Buick pic... So no more of them fer sure... Hey.....Question... Has anyone purchased a replacement dash pad for this car? I've seen a couple sights that sell them. They appear to be flexible caps that you glue on the existing dash. Are they worth the effort to cover the crack in the original? It appears that they can be sprayed to match, using the proper paint. Are there any pro's and con's about this item? Lennon
Forget it.... Did a search and got my answers.... This is a Sweet sight.... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=22949&highlight=dashboard
Welcome to the board. Great find with the Maverick and the Buick is a darn nice car too. Ford or Buick, you gotta love all that chrome. I don't have one myself, but a number of folks here have used the dash caps with very good results. They are certainly a lot cheaper than trying to find a decent original. I have seen a few Mavs and Comets with the dash caps and it's nearly impossible to tell that they are caps.
Thanks for the info on the pads.. My first car was a Mercury. 1966 Comet 289 c.i. It was a great car...Ran forever.... All steel back then.... Only vinyl in the car was the door panels and headliner.
Both cars are extreamly nice! I have a dash cap on my car, most people don't know it's a cap unless I tell them. Well worth it.
