Hi my name is john and i just joined the forum.I own a 1961 ford comet that i bought when i was 13 for $700 it had a 144 straight 6cyl motor and a two speed merc-o-matic trans. 9 years later i am ready to make it my dream car. so i bought a motor out of a 1989 ford mustang gt. its a 302 HO motor that has been board to a 306 :yahoo:. i patched the floor and now i am stuck! i don't know where to get a rear end from or trans. and what do i do about the front suspension. If anyone has parts for sale or can help me please let me know. thanks

Welcome to the site. As far as a rear end...use a 5-lug Maverick/Comet rear end. You will need '69 Mustang shock plates and Ubolts to make things fit. For the front suspension use '65 V8Falcon Steering parts with 65-66 V8 Mustang upper and lower control arms.

You can find narrow 9 inch rears, that might fit, in old 57 Ford wagons, some older Broncos or Lincoln Versailles - plus some Granadas and Monarchs - getting hard to find but you never know what is just laying out there :)

I don't know about the older stuff but street gearing is very high like in the 2.50 range on the Versailles/Granada/Monarchs but 9 inch center sections can be found with 4.11's in old 6 cylinder vans with traction loc- - -I know, I found one

All 57-59 Ford rear end are the same...doesn't have to be a wagon. As far as being hard to find...

I used to hear so much about the rears in the "57 wagons" I think those words are glued together forever
