I just didthis swap on my car and I really like the results.
The Starter is 1/2 the weight of our factory type units.
you can put the TOP starter bolt on from under the car ,WITH headers,
using your fingers! The starter is a factory Ford part and it WILL work with any Automatic weather its a 57 or 64 tooth flexplate.

You can get them from the salvage yards or from your local parts house:

    Stock Replacement On:
    1992-1996 Ford Bronco 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L w/ AT
    1992-2002 Ford E Series 4.2L, 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L
    1992-1998 Ford F Series 4.2L, 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L
1990-1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis 5.0L
    1994-2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L
    1992-1995 Ford Mustang 5.0L
    1990-1997 Ford Thunderbird 3.8L, 5.0L
    1990-1992 Lincoln Mark VII 5.0L
    1990 Lincoln Town Car 5.0L
    1989-1997 Mercury Cougar 3.8L, 5.0L

All you do is Move the Starter cable from the "switched"side of your relay over to the other side where the cable from the battery is connected.....Now run a 12 guage wire from the "switched side of your relay down to the starter and use a female "blade " connector to hook it to the relay on the new starter. Done! This is a High torque, compact ,permanent magnet Type starter that is superior in EVERY way to our old style "BIG" starter.

Here is what I paid for the Starter with a free install kit ( Wire with correct ends installed and 4 zip ties :) ) The Starter is Brand new,not rebuilt, and when I took it out of the box the quality looked good...only thing is
On the box there was a sticker that says :

    Made in China

So far the starter is doing fine ...I really like it...We will see how it holds up.

PriceTotal PFP-3205-N Ford SB: High Torque Mini Starter 1 $64.99

    PFP-79-2114Wiring Kit for Remote Solenoid 1 $0.00

I would leave the battery cable on the switched side of the solenoid and just run a short jumper down on the starter. That way that starter cable is not hot all the time. I seen more arcs and sparks from the chevy guys changing starters because they forget or are too lazy to disconnect the battery first. Do it my way and you wont have to disconnect the battery.

Frank looks like your set. Hardest part is getting the old starter out.

I gotta get me one of those! I don't know how I got my starter in the first time, because I like to never got it in place a couple weeks ago when I replaced it! I am positive I put the headers on before I put the starter on last time because I remember putting all my extensions together to reach the top starter bolt from in front of the motor. :16suspect I priced the starter for a 95 Mustang at Advance and a new one was in the $160 range...

M.A.V., you said it would work with any automatic, will it work with a toploader?
