Has anyone found a cheap replacement for the oring that goes around the holley needle and seat assembly?? i know you can buy the 34-7 kit.. but was looking for a ACE/lowes/homedepot option..
Don't cheap out on something that keeps fuel from spraying all over your hot engine... Stuff you find at a home improvement store probably isn't fuel resistant.
I figured there be someone looking out... maybe they sell viton orings.. have you ever checked? or just shell out the cash to holley for new ones?? no problem either way... what ever works for you.. I just wanted be clear that not I'm snapping or being a douche... I hangout some pretty nasty forums, and apologize for being brute... I mean nothing bad.. Just looking or a alternative than giving holley more of my money.. I do appreciate the advise..
You can buy new needle /seats at the local O'Reilly's, Autozone, Advance, Kragens, etc. When you install it into the bowl, lube the o ring with brake fluid before you screw it in to avoid tearing the rubber. Ditto for the fuel transfer tube on single feed Holleys.
Try a garage or lawn mower shop with a box of differant size o rings. You might get lucky and find one for fuel.
I think the point was not communicated.. I wasn't looking to buy the 34-7 holley kit that sells the o ring nor the kit that sells the needle and seat.. I wanted to see if any other cheapskate, like me, had ever used or found a equal o-ring for say 10 cents, instead of paying 4-15 dollars for one.... I know there are many ****ty o rings.. I tried a nitril (sp?) from harbor freight and to my surprise (sarcasm) it was junk.. tore, tried another one split..left it submerged in gasoline overnight.. disappeared..etc..
You've probably wasted more time, effort and money than if you would have bought the correct part to start with.
The reason they tore and/or split was you likely didn't lubricate the ring before jamming it into a dry hole. USE BRAKE FLUID.
they were lubed with wd.. I think they were just old.. cause, you could grab them between your thumb and index and just roll them around and they would fall apart.. I don't know how old they are.. my neighbor brought them over.. he said he got them from work.. the parts box had about an inch of dust.. needless to say they are in the trash..

The whole point of this thread was just to see if anyone had walked into ACE/Lowes/Home Depot or any of the like and found a o ring that worked on a needle and seat assembly.. that is all.. I know this is petty, but i just figured there would be somebody as cheap as me... I guess not, or at least they haven't had the urge.. I do collect the aluminum cans and water bottles that are drunk here at the house and i buy the toilet paper from bulk at costco, but i don't split the sheets (costco TP is 2ply).. and I courtesy flush (even at home).. and when i'm at costco I always get the hotdog and soda (pop for the East guys)..
I can see now how you got your post count so high.... please refer to posts #1 or #13, for the point.. if you still don't get it.. I don't know what to tell you.. one good thing out of this.. say the moon was aligned with jupiter or whatever.. and one day someone with a holley has a overflow day.. and they remember the help/advise bmcdaniel gave to the cheapskate guy on the forum, that in a pinch he can find a ACE/LOWES/homedepot and find a good oring that would work with no issues.. since summit isn't around the corner nor is the local autozone/orielys etc.. maybe, that can be the only good out of this thread.. well, besides the post count climbing..
