Laura and I just got home from the Roundup...what a great time it was! The trip home was uneventful except for one little thing...what do you think it was?
 Looks that way to me also. Maybe you forgot your wallett and didn't have money to pay. Nice seeiing you again. You did an excellent job on your car.
must've run out of money. mark couldn't even find enough to pay for the rest of that pair of pants. (ha-ha)
Heh..Matt wins the prize! I was going north on I-75, just outside of Findlay, OH and Laura says to me, "You should probably stop for gas soon" and I say, "No, we have over a quarter tank..don't want to get gas too soon or else we will end up having to stop again". Shortly after this, I decide that I should probably stop anyway. Exit 159 has a gas station right next to the road, but it has throngs of people there...looks like a big hassle to me..I will go to exit 164 which looks to have more gas stations and fast food, etc. Along about exit 161 the Mav stumbles and I think maybe the A/C compressor is locking up or something so I shut it off. This temporarily solves the problem, but I soon find that the more I press the gas, the less the car is responding. I quickly get off at this exit and the car stalls at the top of the hill and doesn't want to start. Crap. I coast down the hill and onto the first street which is right in front of a Speedway station that has a big sign that says "Open September". Great. No gas stations in sight, although Findlay Ford and Mercury was right across the field...I had thought about maybe siphoning some gas out of one of the new Mustangs sitting in the lot... Long story short, a trip to the skating rink next to the the future Speedway to "borrow" the bathroom and about two hours later, AAA finally got a local tow truck out to us to give me three gallons of gas so I could go back to the gas station I should have stopped at in the first place. *sigh* On the plus side, the tow truck driver was pretty impressed with my car and gave me the three gallons of gas that AAA had said I would have to pay for. What happened is two fold...the electronic gas gauge that I have in there in the Tbird dash uses radically different resistance than what was originally in the Mav sending unit. I had altered it last fall so that the gas gauge read properly so this would not happen...obviously I have more work to do. The other issue is that when I was at the track Thursday night I had bumped up the fuel pressure to see if it had an effect on ETs(it did..I gained about .5). This is all well and good, but the result is that my fuel economy dropped from about 14.5 to just above 11 miles per gallon. The trip odometer was only at 156 when the car quit. DOH! Both of those figures are terrible for EFI with only a 3.00 rear end and really tall tires to boot, so I hope to be doing some tuning soon to see if I can fix that... Anyway, sorry for the long post but I had to let ya guys know about my adventure. Laura and I had a hell of a time at the Roundup and I can't wait till next year, even if it means stopping every 50 miles for gas...
Fred, you were kinda close too..I had miscalculated my cash needs and only had some change in my pocket..although Laura had about $10 and I had my trusty credit cards...
Sounds like you had quite an advenure Mark. Just think of it as a memory you will always have when you think back on this years Round Up. Someone posted a picture of the Grabbers engine and it looks amazing. Glad to hear you and Laura had a good time. Wish I could have been there. Maybe next year.
it looked to me like maybe your car got wet and "shrunk' . then i noticed the car wash was closed. then i guessed it was out of gas. glad all had a great time ..frank...:bananaman :bananaman
Michael and I made it home safe also.....glad you didn't have any "major" problems Mark!!!! It was great seeing everyone and I had a GREAT time!!!!
I thought I was bad. My truck has a 38 gallon tank and last fill up on the PA turnpike took 37.25 gallons. The overhead computer said I had 5 miles till empty. Thankfully, there were no backups. Had a blast as usual. After a roundup everyone feels like your best friend. After two Roundups, their family. Looking foward to next year.
Mark I'm still going to get that ride someday, sorry I didn't get to say good bye, but I guess some people have to sleep in after a night of singing. Had a great time again and thank you for sharing your homing beacon, she is a riot! Laura we'll see you again next year.
