well ive just recently learned that not all hinges are the same for our cars.
ther are at least two diff. lengths of the front hinge bar,if thats what we can call it.is this well known and i'm only now figuring it out?:rolleyes:i have that shorter ones on now, which are the ones ive always used, but when i go to open my hood it want to back into my freshly painted cowl,NOT KOOL!!
anyone have any input on this matter? i would surly listen, thx. "D"

Mine used to do that due to the slop in the pivots. I tightened them up temporarily by peening over the large rivet. It stopped it hitting the cowl but still a bit sloppy so I picked up a set of NOS hinges.

If the hinges aren't adjusted properly, they'll cause the hood to hit.

I think it took me hours to adjust so it would clear the cowl.

Yep, they aren't adjusted right, and are probably worn as well.
