im having a hard time opening my hood. I believe it might be a hinge issue. I wanted to check around before I go searching for new ones.
It unlatches fine but I have to pull and twist the hood to get it to come all the way up. It won't just come up easily. It even hits on the back corner near the cowling. I just got a brand new paint job and don't want to mess it up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Have you oiled the hinges?

I think I did a while back but maybe I need to try a different product. I used silcon spray, but maybe I should try pen lube?

Yes use a lube that will stay there for a while...Also, you need to adjust the hinges so the hood stops rubbing on the cowl. Usually raising the rear of the hinges eliminates this problem. Adjust em where they bolt to the apron...not at the hood.

youre not alone this is a common issue with these cars Ill have to tr4y that raising the back of my hinge trick to see if that cures it on my car. Ive tried and tried adjusting the hood with no luck never thought about adjusting the hinge itself

What are the rubber bumpers like at the back corner on the cowl? These keep the hood from going down past the height of the cowl. The way the two different-length hinge arms make the hood travel, it forces the back of the hood down. These tiny rubbers often dry, crack, squish-out and eventually diappear. They are held-in with a self-tapping screw. If your hood sits below the cowl at rest, it's gonna rub on the cowl when you open it. Mine were basically missing when I got my car. these can also be shimmed up with a small washer.

They go where the rusty little circle is on the cowl bracket, just behind the fender bolt:

The other thing that could be happening, is the threaded inserts that your hinge bolts thread into on the fender apron may be coming loose where they are pressed into the apron. I welded mine to the apron before I repainted my engine compartment.
