How difficult is it to upgrade? I may need to buy a crate motor and purchase all of the accessories, because I doubt I'll find an engine that will fit my needs exactly. So what else do I need outside of engine accessories, and is any of this hard to find?

I am in the process of doing the same. Wish I would have done a crate engine, but the time I spent with my daughter rebuilding the engine was priceless. Anyway, you'll need a new cross member bracket for the tranny and depending on the current rear end you have, you might consider swapping it out too. Take in consideration the steering column i.e. column shift, floor shift. Is it going to be automatic or standard shift...this will determine if you'll need a new pedal assembly. You may need a new throttle linkage as well. I bought a 1974 Maverick as a parts car, I've been swapping and rebuilding parts off of it...there are plenty of parts available via this forum, eBay and Craigslist. I have been able to find everything I've neede thus far. As I remember other items I will post them. Good luck.

The engine perches are the main thing you will need they go between the engine mount and the chassis... bell housing and related parts if you plan on using your existing transmission. If you have some old salvage yards or should I say one that would have some older cars, that's where I would start, than craigslist or ebay...

How deep are your pockets? Based on your experience you might have to pay somebody to do it all...and that can add up.

Why would he need to "upgrade" the rearend? The 250 cars had the same 8-inch rearend as the 302 cars.

I don't understand why I need to upgrade my transmission, rear end. traction control, tires and rims. Really?! That can't be right.

I'm only concerned with switching out a motor properly, and with the correct parts. I want to start collecting parts.

Your '75 250 already has a V8 transmission, extra cooling radiator and 5-lug suspension. You will need the engine harness wiring because the six harness will be too short to reach the sensors/senders...or splice a section of wire to make them longer. If you had a 70-72 and were swapping a 170-200 to a V8 then you would need transmission, rear end, and radiator...and V8 wiring harness

There is already most all the info you need posted...

    http://www.maverick.to/grabber/v8swap.html

Not mentioned is the V8 throttle cable, I'm 99.9% the 6cyl cannot be used, also not mentioned is the correct balance flexplate, the 250 6cyl will fit but you will have massive vibration if it's used...

when I had mine changed from the 250 to v8 all that was changed besides the engine was the perches, bellhousing, flexplate, and torque converter... the wire harness was reused along with everything else... some rubber fuel line and that's about it...
