Okay, I've spent hours reading around on here and if I'm correct the easiest way to put bucket seats in my bench seat car is to use Ldo tracks, am I right? I am going back and forth on what exactly to do with my car. The original bench seat is in very bad shape. I would really love to have some original high back buckets but Mavericks are few and far between where I am. I have a pair of buckets from a Nissan 300zx that I would like to use if possible. Anyone have any clue if the LDO tracks will make the swap easier? I've never done this before and I am, frankly, clueless so please forgive me. My car is a '71 Grabber 6cyl auto if that makes any difference.
I don't know why you will need LDO tracks and not the regular bucket seat tracks to make this swap. Do you have a link to where you read this?
The LDO tracks will do the same thing as bucket seat tracks....install bucket seats in your car. The main difference between LDO and bucket seat tracks is that LDO tracks will have the seat sitting LOWER in the car.
Ahh okay that makes sense. Yes I suppose regular bucket seat tracks could be used as well. Now I just have to find some...
Since you will probably need to do some fabrication to mount the nissan seats...... in my opinion (based on the fact I've done it) is that it would be cheaper to get another set of bench seat tracks from a junk yard and make your own seat tracks and mounting set up. The bench seat tracks have the right bolt spacing to mount to the floor. Need some spacers for the floor and some longer studs (bolts) and a way to mount them to the Nissan seats. Works perfect in my car with 70 Torino buckets and looks factory. And I didn't spend a lot if money for a set of rare maverick bucket seat tracks.
So... I take it I would need to procure a set of the ldo's from a donor car or better question would be is there a source for these mythical creatures?
We did the same thing with my Mustang buckets. Got another set of Maverick bench tracks, a little fabrication and they went in fairly easily. Just make sure you get the spacers right, so you don't have to keep pulling the seats in and out.
