I may have a slightly narrower 9" housing real soon for sale. How narrow do you want to go ? max or just a bit more rubber ?

I fit approx 11" wide rear tires under my Maverick with CalTracs. Tight fit though, needed the perfect offset wheel.

They were 275/50/R15 BFG Drag radials. Tread width about 10.7", actual tire width a hair over 11"

you shouldnt have to narrow the diff if your not tubbing the car. i run a 275/60 15 on my mav. i had to roll the fender lips and even pushed them out a little bit. they will rub on really bad bumps but thats all.

The key is in the offset of the rim. The wheelwells are quite generous actually!

I also run the 275-60-15 with nothing more than a rolled lip

If you use a short tire, you can probably get an 11" wide tire in there without too much trouble. IMO, short tires are just about worthless. Height is just as important as width. We ran 28x10.5-15 on mine before I backhalfed it. In order to do so, we had to roll the lip, remove the bump stops, and massage the inner wheel house with a BFH a little bit. Then the springs are in the way. Had to move the OE "clamp" rearward a bit.

a 275-50-15 is 11.1" wide AT THE WIDEST POINT...which is usually the sidewall, meaning actual tread width is usually about 10.2" give or take. They're also only 26" tall.

    Good luck.

60 series come in right at 28" tall. I agree with the height comment.
