I do. I really hate it. It works just great and all, but I despise that mess under the hood. I hate the idea of all the extra weight and all. I have to prop the little door behind the dash mounted vent open due to vacuum issues. My first Maverick- the one that I drove before this one- doesn't have it and it's not so bad. It has those under the dash vent thingies with the pull "knobs" to let air in. (What are those things anyway? How do they work?) I'll admit on REALLY hot summer days it was uncomfortable but it worked well enough. This has been bugging the heck out of me for a long time. I just open the hood and look at all that crap and go "Why?". It makes the whole bay look hideous. This might sound odd to you but it's a big issue to me. I guess I can't take it out without poisoning myself. What do I do?

The weight of the a/c may make for a difference of .03 seconds in the quarter mile time. Im used to seeing mine with the A/C system. Anytime I see another car without it, the engine bay always looks bare. Learn to live with it and enjoy your A/C

I want the bare look. Just enough wires to make the engine work and only enough hoses to keep it cool and heat the inside. I am contemplating removing mine as well but I need to have it checked to see if it works first. It has no belt but it seems to have compression and it goes "psssst" when you touch the valve like it's got some pressure. If it works then it will stay most definitely because I am an A/C-aholic. I run it even in the winter.

At least you have an AC to hate. Sure with I did. I don't have AC in any of my vehicles except the 90 Cherokee I am trying to get road worthy. You can bet I will keep that AC properly charged and working. lol

You sure wouldn't be talking such nonsense if you lived in the south! Hearing somebody talk about taking out a working AC system after everything I went through to install factory air in my car just makes me wince...

Sanden makes a smaller compressor. I have been tossing around the idea of moving my alternator to the driver side, mounting that Sanden low on the passenger side, and running the hoses only on that one side, instead of up and over the entire engine bay.

Don't have the money to actually DO it, but I have all the time in the world to THINK ABOUT it...

I removed mine when I was young and dumb. Gave it all away for free. Now if I want it I have to find all the pieces and pay for it. Dumb I tell ya.

Me too. I yanked it all out first thing, and gave much away, sold a couple brackets, and threw away the rest.

But I NEVER intended to put the stock system back together. It is just too cluttered under that hood with the old stock stuff stuffed on top.

I would rather just roll the windows down and put a cold beer between my legs.

All it takes to clean it up is a smaller compressor. But, I didn't do that (yet) and yeah, it took some getting used to when I opened up my hood and my once pretty engine compartment was eclipsed by that giant eyesore. And yes, it makes a surprising amount of things harder to work on.

But when I've shown it to people, surprisingly more people say something like, "Oh sweet it's even got air!" than "Hey, is that a Tecumseh or a Briggs & Stratton?"
