Who is the keeper of the Sprint registry? I really need to ask some questions. I found a small bumper white over blue with red pinstripe Mav at a public storage place. (Behind a fence, so no VIN) the interior was white vinal with blue inlay and maybe trimmed in red.(It was about 9 P.M.,hard to tell) It seems to have been there a while. Key's were in it and the front end sat up like no Motor/Trans. The 3 out of 4 FoMoCo hub caps were trimmed in blue. OK straight car but some body damage. I can't figure out how to resize the pics I have or I would put them up.:hmmm: I'll try to make contact and see what happens. Wish me luck.(y)

BTW, sounds like a Sprint to me..

as for pictures, you can always put them in a photobucket.com account, resize them and then post them here (y)

I am with Mean_Maverick, it sounds like a sprint! Only way to tell for sure is the trim code on the door tag. Should have RB in the trim code box.

I've never used photo bucket. Guess I'll give it a shot. I'll try to take some more pics to add them, but I really want to find the owner to see if I can even get this. My 6yo son already wants to have a car like "Daddy's" and fell in love with it when I took the fist pics. ( He talked me into taking him to see it again tonight, and no, I did not mention it to him before hand).

Thanks Mean Maverick and Newtoford for the info for Dennis/Mavoholic.

Dennis/Mavoholic. How rare are the Sprints anyway? To be honest, I really havent gotten this fired up about somthing in awhile. I may not be able to get this car myself, but if it is indeed for sale I may be able to get another member the info so they can save it......I LOVE THESE CARS!

BTW.....Were the sprints mostly I-6 or V-8.......I don't remember the vin position/code to tell. I may be able to get in and find out the info. Heck, I don't even really care if it was a 6-cyl. I could put a 302 in it cheap enough and build an original motor for it on the side untill I got it completely right for restoration. It may be a little rough and this (I know is premature) is gittin me fired up.

well good luck getting a hold of the guy. hopefully you can take it home. theres a link to a vin and door tag decoder floating around here some where. that RB trim code is the most important thing to look for though (sprint)

if i remember correctly the 5th digit of the vin is the motor. F would be a 302, others would be the 6ers. the first digit of the vin should also be a 2, meaning 1972 which was the only year for the sprint.

Sounds to me like you found a Sprint.
There really wasn't any reason for folks to 'clone' Sprints back in the day.
Doubt anyone bothered with cloning it.

The very few cars that I have ever seen that were trimmed to mimic a Sprint were very poor clones. Even the high quality cars were not even close. Probably because the interior would have been expensive to replicate, for little/no return on the effort.

Today may be different, but to find a body in storage, without engine, suggests this one is real.

    Good luck

Mavaholic......Were the Sprints only made for 1 year or 2? Are they more rare than the Stallions? I tried to make contact with the owner of the storage lot twice today with no luck but got more pictures. Photobucket will not accept my Pics for some reason. I tried to add them at least a dozen times or more and still "Denied":banghead:. I guess I'l try and get Alan Jr. (6 years old) to show me how to post the pics.I'll try to update as I go.

I know a guy in the area that is going to be looking into another project who has done good work on cars in the past and I think I peeked his interest in the Maverick idea. ( He has visited this site a few times since I informed him of it) He is interested in this Sprint also if I can't afford it. May be a newbee.

Sprints were only made for one year, 1972. and IMO, i would say they're harder to find than Stallions. I hope something good turns up :)
