Well I've been looking for a parts car for my 71 Maverick. I found a 75 Maverick at a local dealer, But the guy said he wouldn't go any lower than $1,500, $1,500 for a 75 Maverick with a 250 in it, missing the a filter assembly, missing the A/C compressor, the trunk key lock has been punched out, there's mold on the door panels, the seats or ripped, the car has been spray painted white, and there is a swimming pool in the back floor board, all though I've been told it runs and drives, but $1,500 is alot for nothing and all I wanted it for was the disc brake swap, 5 lug conversion swap, and the floor pan but I don't think it's any good. So tell me I'm not crazy for thinking $1,500 is way to much.
yeah that sounds a little steep.keep your eyes open on here in the classifieds never know what you will come across
A local dealership wanted $1800 for a 4 door 6cyl with Mexican blankets for seats and you had to get in through the passenger side because the drivers front was locked shut and couldn't be opened even from the inside. The guy said it was a classic.
About any car that runs and drives is worth that.....just because it RUNS and DRIVES. The days of the $200 beaters are over....unfortunately.
i agree with Craig. they're not looking at it as a parts car. they're selling it as a "cheapy" for someone who doesnt have alot of money and just needs something to drive. i mean, it's a car lot.... it's all about making money like anywhere else
stop by there once a week with 500 cash. dangle the money in there face and ask if they are ready to get rid of it. after a few weeks they will probly sell it for 500. i cant see anybody spending more than that on a car of that description.
My bet is that they only have $350 into it so ask if they want to sell it fast and make a couple of bucks or they can hang on to it indefinitely and it will only lose value unless they intend to restore it. They won't do that unless they have a buyer. You can bet they want to sell it so just offer what you are willing to spend and don't waiver.
