I've had 3 sets of tires and rims on my '71 now. Currently I'm sporting some 7.5" wide aluminum slots with a 225 tire on them. All 3 combinations have been a plague of tar and debris on my 1/4 panels. I'm heavily considering getting some nice, simple mudflaps to counteract this. I've looked at the stainless and the rubber, I've also considered powercoating the stainless black on the wheel side, to camoflague them. For those of you who really hate mudflaps: to each his own!
You can get some of them fancy file folder clips and you can clip the mud flaps on for driving, take them off for "looks".
I tought I seen some flaps that had Maverick on them ( not that you'd find them easy) are you going to put on "curb feelers" too? A nice big whip "CB" antenna would round out the car just right!
You gotta do what you gotta do! I have thought of buying a spray-on lubricant to keep the rubber from sticking to the fenders...Beats scraping the crap off later on. If flaps work, do it. It may not look too great, but beats pings and burnt in rubber on the fenders. But, keep in mind, I always go for the underdog
Get some of those flaps that have a stainless base w/a rubber flap.Tear off the rubber part and mount the stainless base down low,it won't stick out no more than about 3".Subtle and shoulf fix most of the road rash.
rabbit ????? not really balls but the word starts with a S and is 4 letters.. I know you got the word rite..
Don't pick on the fuzzy dice, that was one of the first modifications on my car, and I STILL HAVE THEM!!! PINK!!! And proud of them. Seriously... someone bought them for me as a joke, and thinking it was funny, I put them on, and they kinda grew on me. In a way, they are sort of like air bags...just a small cushion in case of a front end collision
Bruce why don't you spray rock gaurd on your lower 1/4 and rockers it is a clear that dries to a rock hard finish while giving you the protection you are looking for.
if you are wanting mud flaps, go with the ones that are hard and look like a fender extension (like the ones that come with many new cars) instead of the cruddy rubber ones. personally though, the rock guard paint works on offroad vehicles, it would work on your car too. just spray it with oil before burn outs though like rick said.
