Thanks to Terry Hawkins I got the damper I needed to get my new 250 running. I battled Atlanta rush hour traffic and drove down to his house at 6:00 AM this morning .... did a quick pull of the damper off his 76 parts car and headed home.

I just got back from the maiden road test and it was uneventful ... Once I got some gas in the carb it immediately fired up but several of the lifters were stuck for atleast ten minutes of the initial run in I did to break-in the cam. I had primed the pump and knew it was getting oil pressure ... but they finally quieted down .... I bought the engine about a year ago and I don't know how long before that it was rebuilt so it had been sitting for a while.

My new carb didn't come yet so I can't install the chrome air cleaner yet ....

rick, are you trying to bookmark a running engine into your car??:hmmm:

Dan, sounds pretty cool. did you fill the lifters with a little marvel mystery oil before installing them? i was told that with lube grease on the outside would almost instantly quiet em.

I didn't build the engine ... I have no idea what the machine shop did during rebuilding ...

Yup ... gasoline! Took three doses of gas before the fuel pump kicked in! :)

Good job. Why did you decide to paint the engine compartment black?

Cause it was easier than yellow .... :) It would have taken at least 4 coats of the yellow to do a good job and it was just too contrained in there becuase I didn't want to remove everything. The black engine enamal went on in just about one coat.
