Hey people today i just purchased a 1973 mav with 80k original miles on the 250 engine. This is a new engine to me that i have never even heard of. Im used to working on the 302's blah blah blah. The car is an automatic and in pretty good condition...anyways to business... My question is what should i do to the car? Besides an engine swap...i can completely build anything motor, anything. Looking to take this car from Florida (current location) back to California with me in the coming months. My budget is 3k. Parts and online location to them would be great!! Thanks mav fans!!! :bananaman
Any ideas for the 250 motor?? and hey your like 20 minutes away from me! But im just here for the summer. Doing construction with the uncle. also what carb would i use? http://www.jcwhitney.com/performer-series-carburetors/p2021379.jcwx?filterid=c2034d631y1973j1 and any ideas for exhaust system/headers for the 4 door? thanks in advance!! EDIT: thinking of going with this rebuild kit so far... http://www.enginepartsstore.com/servlet/Detail?no=539 input? thanks.
If your plan is a 302 then I would only do whats needed on the 250... If mine was a 250 I6 I would upgrade to a holly 2bl,electronic dizzy and put on the split long tube header and drive the heck out of it...
My question is are you going to drive it back to California or ship it? If you are going to drive it I'd make sure the tires were good and the spare, as well as all the hoses and belts. Tune up as long as the engine runs good. Change the oil and filter, and the tranny fluid. Make sure the brakes are good. After getting it to California is when I'd start with any major changes like swap to 302, etc. I'd hate to be in the middle of a major upgrade when it was time to leave.
Yeah i'm planning on staying with the 250! Split long tube headers? Holly 2bl, what size would i use, and from edelbrock? Thanks for the replies guys, im trying to figure out how to make it mean!
