Hello everyone. Please do not hold it against me I am personally a 1969 Mach 1 owner. I just picked up a 1973 Comet that my Son Danny has been after for a while yesterday and we are going to dive into the project together. My father and I restored my Mach 1 together and now it is my turn to pass on the knowledge and skills I learned. I have been spoiled with all the Mustang sheet metal and patch panels available and have not had as much luck for the Comet. I can find rear quarters but nothing for front fender patch panels or door skins. I may need to fabricate them but hopped for an easier option. Anyone have ideas of where to look?

I'm sure that you have already noticed that, other than dimensional differences, the Comet is pretty much the same in design as a Mustang. The stamped quarters, that are available, are real close but there are still some quality and stamping differences from a NOS piece. I just finished using pieces from my aftermarket panels to repair my own car but also incorporated pieces from real nice take offs to make it all work. Many parts available from Mustang catalogs will also work with some fabrication skills applied. I have bought a lot of nice rust free pieces from members on this forum so anything can be accomplished.

Mustangs are too easy - now you're in for a much better challenge and you've come to the right place for help (y)

Thank you for the welcome and info. We started digging into it last night to see what we have and putting together a plan and parts list. We gutted the interior to see what was hiding. The floors, trunk floor and most of the structure look pretty good for a 40 year old untouched car. The drivers side torque box is the biggest concern but should be repairable. I can fab up new pieces and weld them in but wondered if they are shared parts with any of the mustangs? The typical front fender corners and door corners rust I will also be able to cut fab weld and fix. The read quarters are typical mid-west rusted and need replacement. We will be making our parts wish list and asking for help and advice from those of you that know these cars best.:yahoo:

    Thank you!!!!!!!

I think there are torque box replacements made specifically for our mavericks/comets, have to do a little digging or maybe some one will come on here and give direction.
