i need to attach the stock kick down lever to a 1406 carburetor. what kit should i buy..and are there any pics?
I have one of those I'm no longer using. My intake is too tall and air cleaner was constantly in the way so I took the kickdown off. I've got the same Edelbrock carb.
If you have trouble with the linkage you can get a kit from Lokar with a lever for the carb and a cable which makes it easier to connect the "kick-down" linkage. That linkage will make your C4 last longer when driving in "Drive". If You constantly shift manually and tend to keep your RPM up then you might get away with no linkage but it is a gamble that I wouldn't take.
PaulS is right! I had trouble with my c-4 shifting right and went to a Lokar cable. I messed around with the kickdown linkage forever. Save yourself alot of bother and buy a Lokar (not cheap but I'm really happy!) Oh Yea I have a 1406 w/ tall valve covers too. Good Luck!
The reason I don't use fuel injection is the same reason I own and drive Mavericks - I can repair them if they break down. I don't need a computer to tell me which system is the problem and I don't need to have a million solenoids and sensors on the shelf. I still run points in the distributor. My Mavericks get 21 MPG around town and close to 23 on the hiway. I like the simplicity of them and the reliability. Why put more stuff on them that can fail?
