Alright, I think its time to kick a thread off. I have been working on this car for almost 2 years now.

I will admit some of the photos I will be posting will show the lack of experience that I have now learned, and or learning now.

This will be my first solo restoration -- I am trying to do everything by myself 100%. If I could start over, I would and do things probably a little crazier.

The goal with my build is to have a Pro-Street Weekend Drag Maverick.

    Enjoy :)

    --

When I first received the car was Christmas Day 2010 by saving up my money along with what I had got from Christmas :) If I recall correctly I even had to barrow a 100$ from the wife's xmas cash to make it happen -- Anddd if I recall correctly I never gave it back to her haha...

I originally was going to just paint the car and begun the sanding/cleaning process. At the time I didn't have a stable job, and was going through a rough patch financially to do anything more.

    Back story on the car

1969.5 Ford Maverick with 51,000 miles on the car -- The car was owned by a old lady who rarely used it. She was the originally purchaser for the maverick.

I received the car from the family of the elderly lady who was unfortunately was placed into a home.

    I purchased the Maverick $500.

Car had some parking lot damage -- From what the family explained is that the car had been backed until by a pickup truck caving the rear 1/4 panel which had been repaired with 3" thick bondo and welded small tears in a few places.

Aside from that the car was mechanically sound, and rust free. The rust you will see within the build is just light surface rust -- Trust me, it is not that bad :D Which to this day I could kiss the old lady for keeping the car in the garage compared to MANY MANY others on this forum.

I will post pictures and back story periodically.

After talking to a few people and my cousin convincing me to not just paint it, but to do a full blown resto on it. So, I started ripping everything out in prep to go to sandblast.

If you sandblast the car you will destroy it. Make sure you get it media blasted.

Nothing warped -- The media blaster did it in several steps to prevent warp.

Here is some pictures before media.

Again, Lack of experience and not quite acknowledging how much of a pain in the ass it would be not to just DO the entire shell/car

At the time i was lived off of 14k a year and every decision was based off of $. If I could redo it now, I would have the entire car - every square inch soda blasted.

I also didnt think I was going to go crazy -- I wanted to leave it running LOL wtf was I thinkin?
