Loose rocker arm nuts

After 3000 flawless miles on the rebuild, noticed a loud ticking noise comming from the engine. At first, I thought is was an exhaust leak, but the sound appeared to be comming from the valve covers.

Removed both covers and found at least two of the rocker arm nuts loose. I have roller rockers, and the nuts are the kind with the inner hex lock thingy....guess I did not tighten them properly.

Obviously, I will know if this is the problem once I remove and readjust them all....had this happened to anyone else? What kind of noise did it make when it happened??

 

That's prob your noise.

Reset them all and see if that clears it up... and keep a check on them

Keep a eye on them, also did you double check all the others? I would run a hundred miles or so and go over again,, if you find any loose, take intake off an look at valve train good. Good Luck!

 

Yes, I removed all 16 and readjusted...will keep an eye on them. Such a PITA removing the valve covers on that car!
