Well, I screwed up and missplaced the keys for my car. What should I do? Where do I call to get them replaced? Any help would be appreciated!

So a locksmith would just come to my house and make me a new set of keys? I don't know how that works exactly. But, what your saying is without my original keys he could make new ones?

They can actually make the keys from the V.I.N. I believe is what they use. That or magic.

They can make a key for an old vehicle even? Do you think they really have key records for a old seventy three mav? And how much do you think it will cost? I need three keys one for ignition, trunk, and side doors.

Also, Do you think it would be a bad idea to get an ignition installed to where all you had to do was press a button?

They can't make one off the VIN on a car that is that old.

A locksmith will make a custom key to fit your ignition, trunk, whatever. The ignition key is also your door key.

    new key

Its called impression, the lock smith will take a key blank and insert it in the lock and wiggle it.
the tumblers being different lengths will make different marks on the key
he then can file the blank til it fits your car....cousin is a locksmith.
good luck...house calls are expensive on nights and weekends so don't be suprised...Jim:)

Assuming you can open the door, you can pull the door cylinder out in about 30 seconds, Then take it to him and save yourself some money.

FYI, if you need to start it up, ANY ford ignition key will start up those old ignitions. I didn't believe it till I tried it. Stick one in,a nd wiggle it around, it'll work. No need for proper keys!

Hey ward! Yeah I've been laying low lately. I did a complete electrical wireing change for my car. It was in need of a overhaul. It took me a while to change out all the wiring but I'm done so thats great! But through some miscommunication with my dad I lost my keys. But I made some calls and it seems it would cost about 8 bucks to get a set of three keys made. And I know you may be joking but I'm not going to sell my car! I love it and I've put alot of work into it. But I would love to go to a round up but I want my car to be in great shape before I go.

Never not attend the Roundup just because you don't think your car looks good enough. Everyone has something to contribute and everyone that attends, appreciate ever car that shows up.

Yeah it would be cool to go to a round up to just see a bunch of Mav's. Mines not horrible or anything but, I just want to make sure it makes it there without breaking down...

"The Roundup" is in july and you could drive with us up there, it takes about 3 hrs. The more in the caravan the better. Plus if you did break down you would be with enough mav/comet people that you wouldn't stay that way long. And Donnie, I've seen your car, nothing there to be ashamed of. :)
