I'd go 15x7's all the way around. I have 17x8's on my project comet.

    Getting back on topic ....

My combo is 15x7 factory Magnums on the front and 15x8.5 Wheel Vintiques on the back. WV remanufactures these wheels, using factory centers and installing them in a new rim. I opted for a backspacing that was close to factory. Another 3/4" outboard spacing would be better to center the wheel and get it away from the spring.

Tires are 265/50/15 Coopers on the rear. This brand of tire runs small for the numeric size and actually is only about 1/2" wider than a 245 BFG. Fronts are 195/60/15s and are quite short. It would fill the wheelwell better in a 205/60 or maybe 215/60. Then drop the front just a bit more... it never ends.

Another couple notes about 14 inch wheels and tires .... tires are harder to get in a good selection of performance sizes anymore. Also, if you go with a 14 x 7 or wider wheel, they tend to pass really close to the disc brake caliper on the front. If you jump up to 15s, the added diameter gives you some room.

That looks really good. I am curious; what backspacing is those 15x8.5s, and what rear-end are you running? DO you have any rubbing on the frame rail or inner wheel house? Is the lip rolled on the wheel arch?

I don't recall the backspacing measurement, but I seem to remember that it is a 1/4" more than the stockers that I run on the front. I am using the stock rear axle and 1/4" spacers added. The tires are still closer to the springs and could easily go another inch outboard. I rolled the lip prior to fitting the tires, and it is completely unnecessary. The tires have raised white letters inboard, and if I drive up a sloped driveway, the letters sometimes rub on the inner wheel tub.

A Granada/Monarch axle would fix this, so would a 69 Falcon (there was one in the JY a while back).... they are 1.5 " wider.

Great work! Now hopefully someone can come up with picures of 15" rear and 14" front wheels to help out.
