I got a chance to purchase a 289. I was wondering if that block is easy to replace the 200 with the correct mounts or should I go to a 302 or the 351.also will the c4 tranny bolt up to the 289. The reason I ask all these questions is because my maverick runs fine now and dont want to buy a bunch of parts that will not hook up together or are difficult to make the change. (dont want to make alot of alterations tothe frame on my maverick).

With the exception of the 351 block being wider, all 3 blocks use the same mounts and will bolt up to a C4. You'll need a V-8 crossmember but your car already has mounting holes for this (bolt in), and there are no permanent frame modifications necessary.

Keep in mind that when converting from 6 to 8 cyl, you'll need to upgrade things like brakes, springs, and axles in order to handle the extra weight and power. It's not a difficult conversion, but it can be time consuming and costly to do it right. If you're happy with your car the way it is, you might consider leaving it alone, because there is much more involved than just swapping engines.

The tranny from the 200 won't bolt up to the 289 without changing bellhousings. A 250 bellhousing is the same as a 289/302 bellhousing.

Depends on the year of the motor. The early 289 had 5 bolt bell housings. If this is that, I'd pass.
