    Hello.
I have a 1971 200 6cyl. Can someone tell me the manifold I would have to get and which new 2BBL carb would be the best for it? Both new parts. Quality name brands.
And, would I have to change or adjust anything else to move up in manifold & carb?
    Thanks ahead of time!

The small Ford 6cyl have a integral intake manifold which means it's a permanent part of the head, cannot be removed... Options are a adapter that possibly will place carb too high for hood clearance or have manifold machined to accept a second or third single barrel... The head must be removed for this work...

As long as engine is otherwise stock, it's mostly a waste of time and money...

the limits are endless. you could find a 2 barrel carb adapter on classic inlines for cheap as well as a two barrel carb from a mustang v8 for cheap and adjust it to run with the sixer. just measure how much room you have left for a filter and figure out what you want to go with. with the integral log style intake you cant change it without cutting it off and having holes and threads put to add a fabricated intake. if your in for the long haul you could buy a stock spec aluminum head from Classic Inlines and have all of your stock springs valves and whatnot put on it and get a separate intake of your choice but be ready to fork out about 1700 bucks, if your looking for a little extra power then dont worry about the intake and go for the opposite end at the exhaust. get a header for that little engine and you will feel a little difference in the power band. with a flowmaster 40 and the right tube width it could sound like a 289 v8. the possibility's are endless.

Re-curving the distributor is the best bang for the buck on a inline six. Only thing a 2 bbl will do to a stock six is let you smell raw gas fumes more often than usual. Duraspark swap helps wake up a six a lot too

The free exhaust system with header and dist timing recurve are good suggestions and along with those you could go with a larger single barrel carb(by it's self would likely make little if any difference)... I dunno any ratings, but I'd think the carbs used on the 250 would have a bit more flow than the 200 versions(maybe someone could chime in here?)...

From mild to wild, the anvil like small block six is readily upgraded with better carbs, exhaust, ignition drivetrain ... . Simple 2 Barrel to 1 Barrel will let you use huge selection of carbs. Simple performance and/or economy mods' can make the Mav/Com six a modern daily driver or maximize performance.

    haev fun

A V-8 would have been more cost effective.

.. true, cost effective - and just another effectively very average and boring SBF build to Small Block Six enthusiasts' .

    have fun

If you think a powerful smallblock V-8 is "boring", there's something wrong with you.

you can look at a V8 and see it going fast...a six not so much. at most car shows people walk right by the hood up on a six cyl....:yup:
the fastest six cyl. Mav/Comet is still a six cyl...

... with my Comet a few years ago at 'Dover Dragstrip' nostalgia days I got to line up in the staging lanes with
Clem Lachance's Magnum Six Maverick (RIP), 'didn't get to match up with him unfortunately.
